Built Around the Art: Art Collector Partners with Hyde Hotels
A new partnership places Art Collector inside Ennismore’s design-led hotels in Naarm/Melbourne and Boorloo/Perth.
Art Collector is delighted to announce a new partnership with Hyde, Ennismore’s design-led hotel brand, spanning its two Australian flagships: Hyde Melbourne Place in Naarm/Melbourne and Hyde Perth in Boorloo/Perth. It’s a partnership built on a shared conviction — that in the right hands, a hotel can be more than a place decorated with art. It can be built around it.
Both properties make that case seriously. At Hyde Melbourne Place, portraits by Atong Atem greet guests on every floor. At Hyde Perth, the late Jimmy Pike‘s Jilji transforms the lifts into something closer to a moving gallery. Rather than treating art as finishing touch, Ennismore’s Australian hotels position themselves as active patrons of contemporary practice — a story we tell in full in our Art Travel feature in Issue 117.
“The pleasure of staying somewhere that has taken its art seriously,” writes Art Collector Editor Robert Buratti, “is the difference between a hotel decorated with art and a hotel built around it.”
As part of the partnership, Art Collector will be available throughout both hotels — in guest rooms, lobbies and dining spaces — reaching travellers who share a curiosity about the art around them. Current print subscribers will also enjoy special rates at both Hyde properties throughout the year, with booking details to be announced soon.
