Established in 2020, Chippendale Contemporary is an ongoing series of events that aims to celebrate and promote the contemporary art scene of the central Sydney precinct of Chippendale and its surrounds.

The forthcoming Art Walk & Wine event this Saturday afternoon will take guests on a tour of some of the commercial galleries in the area, followed by refreshments at local wine bar Handpicked Wines. At each of the galleries there will be an artist, gallerist or curator present to speak about the exhibitions presented. The aim of the event is to introduce collectors to the galleries of the area and promote discussion of the exhibitions and artworks seen.

This is the first art walk hosted by Chippendale Contemporary that will visit Michael Reid’s new Chippendale gallery. Michael Reid Gallery presents Djirrirra Yukuwa Wunuŋmurra’s exhibition dap as well as Polaroids by Petrina Hicks.

The tour will then go to Galerie pompom, presenting Handbook for the Apocalypse by Adam Norton. At Nanda\Hobbs, an exhibition of works by Ben Smith will be on display, as well as works by Brett Whiteley and Francis Bacon. Michelle Perry Fine Arts will present a group exhibition titled Paper featuring works by artists Penny Coss, Ben Gavin, Graham Kuo, Wendi Leigh, Wendy Stokes, Sokquon Tran and Annie Hsiao-Wen Wang.

The tour runs this Saturday 12 March from 2-5pm. Tickets and more information can be found here.
