Doreen Chapman: No fishing, no hunting, no car, just painting

The only artist invited to exhibit across all six venues of the 24th Biennale of Sydney, Doreen Chapman’s star is rising.

2024 is shaping up as a remarkable year for Manyjilyjarra artist Doreen Chapman. Following her inclusion in the 24th Biennale of Sydney, Ten Thousand Suns, and the 41st Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, Chapman is hitting the studio to develop a new body of work for her highly anticipated solo show at James Makin Gallery, Narrm/Melbourne.

Chapman was the only artist invited to exhibit across each venue of Ten Thousand Suns earlier this year in Warrane/Sydney, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artspace, Chau Chak Wing Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, UNSW Galleries, and White Bay Power Station.
