PARKER Contemporary
PARKER Contemporary presents Filtered Light, a new body of work by Alethea Richter, from 22 July to 8 August 2026. The exhibition marks the first gallery presentation of this body of work, bringing two years of sustained practice-led research and long studio hours into public view.
Light is both subject and agent within the works, from the glow of the electronic display to the UV exposure used in screenprinting. Pixel-like forms are hand-printed in layered paint, then sliced and woven back into the surface as paper threads, oscillating between image and object.
Richter’s practice is featured in the latest issue of Art Collector. A recipient of the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Emerging Artist Prize, the Burnie Print Prize Emerging Artist Award and Best in Show at the Ipswich Art Awards, she is also a 2026 National Works on Paper finalist. She graduated from the Queensland College of Art and Design, Griffith University in 2025 with First Class Honours.
