April 17, 2021 - June 5, 2021

Anna Nangle is a visual artist whose practice incorporates participatory and site-specific art. Her performances and installations have used 16mm film, video, photography, sound, spoken word and journey making.

1000 Colours for Lalita is a work made in response to the trauma she experienced living through the recent bushfires. For this exhibition Nangle has created a freestanding room built to contain a mystic, power diagram of coloured, painted squares. The colours spatialise the text of an ancient Indian Sanskrit prayer, The Lalita Sahasranama (The Thousand Names of Lalita). The work is influenced by both the minimalist colour field painting of the 1960’s and 70’s and Indian Tantric paintings.

Anna Nangle is currently studying an MFA through the Belfast School of Art.
