
Art Deco: A Modern Vision celebrates 100 years of glamour, innovation, and design. Step back in time to discover the origins of Art Deco, its global journey, and see how this distinctive style became a part of everyday Australian life. Featuring exquisite fashion, sculpture, ceramics, paintings, and much more. The exhibition is thoughtfully laid out with 180 works from public and private collections, guiding visitors through a curated journey within each of the gallery spaces:
- Gallery 1: Learn about the launch of Art Deco in France and Europe through a selection of furniture, paintings and decorative arts including a display of striking glass by Lalique.
- Gallery 2: Discover how the Art Deco style was embedded in the idea of internationalism through vintage travel posters, a vintage motorcycle, Australian and European fashion, and ceramics of that period.
- Gallery 3: See how the style arrived in Australia, exploring how people designed and furnished cinemas through to their homes in architectural drawings and objects.
