The Warrnambool Art Gallery building has taken on a vibrancy and glow in a conversation of colour, expression and action. Ash Keating has transformed the exterior of the gallery using 80, 15kg fire hydrants to spray an artwork that captures the almost impossible colours of the South West region sunsets. While Keating has been using fire hydrants full of paint to create his splash art works that layer colour rapidly over large surfaces in a spectacular way for over a decade, Sunset Response features varying gradients of special fluorescent colour for the first time.
