Aunty Marilyne Nicholls and Rebecca Phillips: Murrunaya Djayi (Living Spirit Country)

Dja Dja Wurrung artists Aunty Marilyne Nicholls and Rebecca Phillips bring their collaborative artwork to our latest façade commission, combining their distinct and respective practices as a master weaver, painter and dancer. Together, the artists have illustrated the story of the waterways and Country across Djandak, bringing together discrete drawings and paintings along with natural materials collected on Country, such as kangaroo grass and emu feathers. Collaged digitally and unfolding across the façade window, these elements continue to build upon Aunty Marilyne and Rebecca’s longstanding cultural and creative practices connecting to Country.
