Ben Ali Ong, A thousand half loves, 2019. Pigment inkjet print, 76 x 110x, edition of 3. Courtesy: the artist and Artereal Gallery, Rozelle
Known for his black and white photography practice, Ben Ali Ong has established a reputation for creating bodies of work which juxtapose brooding dream-like imagery alongside minimalist abstract pieces defined by their poetic restraint. Often blurry, grainy, scratched or heavily distorted through darkroom processes. Ong’s pictorial choices appear to be made completely random, creating a disjointed and surreal narrative.
Exhibition opens: 6-8pm Wednesday 3 April 2019
