Pictures for Thinking is the fourth in a recent loosely connected print series from Melbourne-based Benjamin Armstrong. A graduate in painting from the Victorian College of the Arts, whose practice has been focused on sculpture and printmaking, Armstrong employs unusual, unorthodox techniques to embody his visions. Methodologies are entangled, surrendering to what the image demands in order to be realised. As Armstrong told writer Andrew Stephens, ‘Printmaking is always an inventive, alchemical thing for me.’ (Imprint Magazine, 2018).
