Blak Douglas, K9 v’s bloodline on the breadline, 2008. Synthetic polymer paint on canvas. Courtesy of the artist and Nanda\Hobbs Gallery, Sydney.
For a period nearing two decades, Blak Douglas & Jason Wing have been exhibiting politically charged art works. Motivated by the ongoing failure of respective Governments to fully reconcile the historic atrocities inflicted upon First Nations peoples of this continent.
This exhibition brings fresh light from these two Koori artists from the South East. A micro ‘survey’ show of hand-picked works seen for the first time on Bundjalung Country. A duo protest and a resistance in the face of cultural adversity. This is a carefully curated suite of both two & three-dimensional works revisited from earlier periods of practice
‘Whilst ever the WASP patriarchy pretends that we don’t exist, we shall stand up and resist’.
