Chalk Horse presents work by Daniel Hollier.
Hollier’s practice is one that embraces change and is open to an infinite number of possibilities. For this series, he looks towards Gerhard Richter’s Suite of Colour Chart Paintings and Jean Arp’s Dada Reliefs, which provide an avenue to look deeper at the everyday.
While his influences are diverse, Dada reigns supreme and is particularly visible in the artist’s refusal to be tied down by any particular subject matter, material or mode of making. Although his forms are centred around the found object (that often denotes a definite purpose), they are intentionally open-ended and ambiguous.
Exhibition opens: 6-8pm Thursday 30 January 2020
