Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery presents new works by David Griggs in Mankini Island, a fictional place invented by the artist. Laden with metaphorical codes and psychedelic visuals, Mankini Island invites us to imagine, to connect, and to evoke a visceral emotional response.
Eight times Archibald Prize finalist, Griggs creates vibrant, energetic paintings that exhume the raw undercurrents of a society and human conditions. Griggs is known for his bold anarchistic approach, drawing on personal experience, political imagery, popular culture and art history.
Exhibition opens: 6–8pm Friday 7 February 2020
