Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery presents new works by Del Kathryn Barton, two-time Archibald Prize winner, in i wanted to build a bed for all the tired beds. This exhibition will feature a suite of new paintings, sculptures, works on paper as well as a large-scale installation. i wanted to build a bed for all the tired beds is Barton’s first exhibition following her major solo show The Highway is a Disco at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, 2017-18.
Barton’s detailed and vibrant paintings explore the symbolic language of femininity, interweaving references to traditional folklore and the cosmos. Barton’s practice is grounded in self-referentiality, drawing from a euphoric and emotional inner world.
