Quandamooka artist and designer Delvene Cockatoo-Collins provides rare insight into her creative practice. With a deep respect for Country, her unique garments reveal the natural beauty of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and family stories as a source of inspiration for wearable art woven into runway pieces.
A continuation of the exhibition Wearing Country features Delvene Cockatoo-Collins’ design commissions. With a focus on her Brisbane Broncos jerseys and theatre costumes, visitors can follow the progression of Cockatoo-Collins’ wearable art practice, her continued connection to Country and representation of identity.
This program is part of a three-year project of artist-led exhibitions and activations, collectively titled CREATE EXCHANGE, supported by Haymans Electrical, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and Redland Art Gallery | Redland City Council.
