Tjilpi Mankurpa — Three Old Men brings together the work of three remarkable senior men: Dickie Minyintiri, Kunmanara (Harry) Tjutjuna and Pepai Carroll. These were men of profound cultural authority whose lives spanned the shifting worlds of desert life, mission settlement and contemporary community. Born in the bush and later connected through Ernabella Arts, the longest continuously operating Aboriginal art centre in Australia, each carried deep responsibility as senior men and for both Dickie and Harry – Ngangkari—traditional healers entrusted with the spiritual wellbeing of their people.

Now that all three artists have passed, their works carry a particular gravity. Each painting stands not only as an image but as a living assertion of identity—an enduring statement of I am: I am this Country, this story, this Law.
