
Alcaston Gallery presents distinguished artist and respected Yolŋu elder, Djakaŋu Yunupiŋu’s third major solo exhibition, Sister’s Tears, exhibiting at the Alcaston Gallery Exhibition Space from 1 – 25 October 2025.
Yunupiŋu is celebrated for her sophisticated art practice and exquisite sense of detail and composition, which is evident in her breathtaking monochromatic paintings on reclaimed timber board, bark, paper and Larrakitj (hollowed tree trunks).
In 2025, Djakaŋu Yunupiŋu was named a finalist in the prestigious National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards presented by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT). This year she is also featured in the landmark exhibition Yolŋu Power: The Art of Yirrkala, at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and her powerful work was chosen for the cover of the significant publication that accompanies the exhibition.
