A nation-wide collaborative art piece during Covid19 Adaptation is a large-scale inflatable artwork that celebrates creative thinking and optimism as one of the most useful approaches to dealing with global crisis and uncertainty. During the 2020 covid-19 lockdown, people from four different regions in Australia were invited to collaborate in the development of Adaptation. Collaborative art making classes were conducted via zoom in collaboration with Bathurst, Maitland, Grafton Regional Galleries and AlburyCity.
Essentially, Adaptation is a social experiment on happiness – how do we feel “connected” when we can’t be with each other? And Is being creative a potent way to find hope and direction? It’s a huge milestone for GAS and the one of the first online collaborative public artworks of its kind in Australia.
Opening 19 February at 5:30pm and on view Tuesday to Sunday 10:00am – 4:00pm
