A New Zealand-born artist of Samoan and European descent, Graham Fletcher is interested in Pacific colonial history and the collection and display of Pacific ethnographic material.
Fletcher references visual and material cultures of Samoa and Europe, as well as objects found in the Pacific collections of museums throughout New Zealand and Europe. In his paintings, Fletcher places Pacific ethnographic material within modernist interiors, in what he describes as a kind of “lounge room tribalism”.
Exhibition opens: 11am Tuesday 13 August
