Inspired by the musical compositional technique of the same name, Call and Response involves one musician offering a phrase, to which another replies with a direct reaction. Similarly, an audience responds to visual art in a semiotic way and artists that exhibit together can respond to works of their own creation or another artist’s creation with artworks imbued with an implicit commentary.
