John Reynolds, Liberty During Construction, 1983. Crayon, conte, acrylic and card on canvas, 197 x 385cm. Courtesy: the artist and Gow Langsford Gallery, New Zealand.
An oversized painting will frequently dominate the room in which it hangs, engulfing the viewer physically and, often, emotionally. Gow Langsford Gallery presents Enveloping Scales, an exhibition of three paintings that consider the act of looking when viewing large format works. The artists featured in this exhibition include Reuben Paterson, John Pule, John Reynolds, Judy Millar.
Exhibition opens: 5–7pm Tuesday 11 June 2019
