Cowra Regional Art Gallery
An exhibition revealing the power and nuance of colour within artistic practice.
Luminous Revolution is an exhibition that explores the power of colour through the lens of Cowra-based artistic practice. Colour is a dynamic part of our sensory and physical world. Whether artistic or not, we can hold strong feelings about different colours. Colouration can impact or represent our emotions, can direct our aesthetic tastes and can influence our sense of well-being.
Colour is a key consideration for artists. Within the sum of their artistic choices, artists lean into particular colours for a myriad of reasons. The exhibition presents artists who have affinity with a particular colour and delves behind their art objects to understand chromatic-choice inclinations.
Luminous Revolution offers an opportunity to unpack the idiosyncrasies and inner dialogues of creative practice. From power-red to almost-there grey, seven Central West artists share what headlines their colour palette. The exhibition invites us to examine the emotional spectrum of colour and our own personal responses within its vibrant diversity.
