Group exhibition: Mimili Maku

Mimili Maku brings together a cross section of Mimili artists, reflecting the breadth and vitality of the studio. Across diverse painting practices, artists hold and transform stories of country, family, memory and lived experience. Together, they show the strength of a multigenerational art centre where individual voices sit within a wider collective story. The exhibition also includes work from the Mimili Maku Wati Studio, a collective of Aṉangu men whose practice expands into printmaking, sculpture and experimental material processes. Mentored by senior artist Robert Fielding, the Wati Studio brings together senior, emerging and younger men through a model of shared learning, ngapartji-ngapartji — reciprocal exchange across generations, cultures and materials.
