Greenhouses and gardens are a way to escape time and place, offering a means for community building, creativity and experimentation amidst climate change. They are spaces where synthetic environments can be manufactured to protect, cultivate and propagate plants; spaces where both humans and other organisms can grow together; and, where we can improve knowledge in pursuit of a vibrant, well-fed and nourished planet.
The way things grow is an exhibition that considers greenhouses, gardens and backyards. Through displaying creative work, this exhibition uses the ‘greenhouse’ as a metaphor to propose new futures where socially-engaged, decolonial and eco-conscious practices are embraced.
This exhibition features new artworks created by Erika Scott, Gabriella Hirst, Jan Godfrey, Jane Nicholson, Libby Harward, Llewellyn Millhouse & Annie Bowman, Rachel King, and Susan McConnel.
