Sydney Long, Flamingo Pool, 1915. Watercolour on paper, 30 x 74cm. Courtesy: the artist and Charles Nodrum Gallery, Richmond.
To be opened by Guy Abrahams, Co-founder of CLIMARTE, this is the second group exhibition we’ve presented to coincide with the organisation’s Art+Climate=Change festival.
Whilst the gallery will provide standard information and background on the paintings where applicable from the art historical perspective, we are pleased to be working in collaboration with climate scientist Dr Joelle Gergis who will comment on selected works from a geographical and climatological perspective to help strengthen awareness of the problems present and future that confront us.
The show features works by Eugene von Guerard, J. H. Carse, Sydney Long, William Frater, Lina Bryans, James Gleeson, Fred Williams, Arthur Boyd, Michael Shannon, Maxie Tjampitjinpa, John Gollings, Bill Henson, and many others.
Exhibition opens: 4–6pm Saturday 4 May 2019
