Heidi Schoenheimer: Around Here

Around Here is a series of paintings that function like a visual diary. The artist captures everyday scenes and quiet personal moments, depicting the people and places around her. Many of these scenes are drawn from the local area, including neighbourhoods and public spaces within the City of Darebin. Heidi Schoenheimer is interested in small gestures, pockets of light, colour and the quiet drama of daily life.

Through the process of painting, Schoenheimer focuses in on and extends these fleeting moments. Working from memory or with the aid of photographs she reinterprets what she has seen. Around Here offers a quiet familiarity, acting as an invitation to notice the subtle moments that occur between destinations.
