Thepa mapa is a captivating array of the many bird species found in Central Australia. Senior artists Judith Pungarta Inkamala, Rahel Kngwarria Ungwanaka, Dawn Ngala Wheeler, Anita Mbitjana Ratara, and Hayley Panangka Coulthard have created an exquisite exhibition which celebrates their deep respect and appreciation for the unique birdlife found in their stunning Western Arrarnta country.
These skilfully handcoil and pinched terracotta pots are painted with a colourful pallet of ceramic underglaze to bring to life the vibrant birdlife loved by the Western Arrarnta artists.
