Iain Turnbull: Lines of Intersection

April 9 - May 2

Working closely with the Turnbull Family and Cobalt Editions, Iain Turnbull: Lines of Intersection brings together works by the late Iain Turnbull (1965–2009), tracing the enduring impact of his practice and a legacy that continues through the Turnbull Award at the Queensland College of Art and Design, Griffith University.

Rather than a retrospective, the exhibition follows a lineage of ideas — a shared commitment to process, material intelligence and the quiet rigour of working through the printed line. Turnbull’s work, shaped during his time at QCA where he graduated with First Class Honours in Printmaking in 2005, reflects a sustained engagement with print as both method and way of thinking.

His legacy extends beyond the works themselves, carried forward through the QCAD print studios and the artists who have received the Turnbull Award, supporting those who engage deeply with printmaking in their practice.

Presented in support of the award, proceeds from selected works contribute directly to its ongoing continuation.
