Hom Swit Hom is a Bislama language version of “home sweet home,” an expression that speaks to artist Jasmine Togo-Brisby’s ancestral connections to Vanuatu, blackbirding, and indentured labour in the late-nineteenth century sugar industry in Australia. Through her large-scale sculpture, photography and cinematic installations, the artist delves deep into her Australian South Sea Islander story.
