Artereal Gallery presents Jason Wing’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, showcasing important new works from his ongoing Captain James Crook series alongside a recent survey of both new and existing works from his Battleground series of shields.
Wing invites audiences to consider the dual and alternate history’s which exist in Australia, by taking an active and performative role in how they engage with Cook’s mythologised and immediately recognisable profile. Offering a transformative experience which is at once provocative and powerful in its revisioning of the fabled narrative many Australian’s grew up with, Wing’s work asks each and everyone one of us to take responsibility for reshaping the way we think about the slippery nature of truth and history.
The gallery is adhering to COVID-19 social distancing measures. Please contact the gallery before you visit to arrange a suitable viewing time.
