James Makin Gallery presents the Mountains and the River, an exhibition of work by Jeff Makin.

The Mountain and the River charts the course of the Murray River and the significant natural landmarks that punctuate it around Corriong and Towong on the border of Victoria and NSW. This series of paintings began in September 2019 just before the devastating bushfires of early 2020. From this landscape that inspired Banjo Patterson’s “The Man From Snowy River”, Makin images an iconic, sublime Australian landscape.
