Uawa Tolaga Bay features a suite of incredibly potent paintings by John Walsh that directly address the environmental devastation resulting from intensive monoculture pine forestry at Uawa Tolaga Bay, on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Walsh (Aitanga a Hauiti) grew up in Uawa. This exhibition is an impassioned plea to the forestry companies involved to look at their practices and the damage they are causing both to the environment and the people of Uawa, and a desperate appeal to government and local council to examine legislation.
The gallery is open and practicing COVID-19 social distancing measures.
