Following-on from her great successes earlier in the year at both Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Monster Theatres and 22nd Biennale of Sydney, NIRIN, this wide-ranging exhibition by Karla Dickens comprises photography, video, sculpture, collage and garment-related installations.
SOS explores diverse topics, such as the effects of poverty upon Indigenous Australians, damage and death of native flora and fauna through bush fires, ill-informed and inappropriate land management practices caused by Australia’s over-reliance on carbon-based energy sources, and mainstream Australia’s inability to understand the offence caused when celebrating Australia Day on the date First Nations People associate with invasion.
The gallery is open and practicing COVID-19 social distancing measures. The exhibition can be viewed online here.
