Nanda\Hobbs gallery presents work by Kathryn Ryan. Based in Victoria’s south-western coast, Ryan’s landscapes explore co-existing opposites, in-betweenness and an inter-play between shadow and light. The themes of her work reflect an intimate connection with the quiet stillness of rural life.
Describing her practice, the artist states: “I am surrounded by nature’s beauty; the large skies, wild oceans and the evocative farming landscape of my childhood—paddocks dotted with the rows of cypress hedges and wind-battered rows of tall pines. The trees silhouetted against the evening skies, sunrise and sunset, the approaching winter clouds and fading light of day.”
The gallery will host an artist talk at 2pm on Saturday 25 May 2019.
Exhibition opens: 6-8pm Thursday 23 May 2019
