Alcaston Gallery in conjunction with the Estate of the Artist and Tjala Arts, SA presents a selection of recently released paintings by the late Kunmanara (Ray) Ken (c.1940 – 2018), an acclaimed artist and important senior Amata law man from the APY Lands, South Australia.
Drawing on his innate knowledge of land and law, Ken combined traditional Anangu culture with a vibrant colour palette and striking linear compositions to achieve a highly sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic. His paintings are found in most public institutions in Australia and several significant private collections nationally and overseas, and his remarkable artistic legacy will continue for generations to come.
