MARS gallery presents German artist Lars Breuer’s first solo exhibition in Australia. Breuer’s work is based on minimalistic tendencies of the 20th century, with conceptual references to art history and literature. Often working with a self-designed grid-like italic typography, text and slogans appear like icons in their own right. This rhythmic and dynamic composition changes between its semantics of the words and its quality as an abstract pattern.
Breuer’s exhibition coincides with the unveiling of a public installation across MARS Gallery’s ten-metre-high, east facing external wall, proudly supported by the City of Stonnington.
Exhibition opens: 6-8pm Thursday 21 March 2019
