Lois Robertson, Waterfall Series #1, 2019, Oil on linen.
Lois Robertson presents an exhibition in response to the immense quantity of waterfalls in Iceland. Water is such a precious commodity in so many parts of the world, yet in Iceland it flows continuously from every corner of the island. Climate change is impacting the glaciers creating huge volumes of water flowing from an estimated 10,000 waterfalls throughout the island. In this series of landscape paintings, Robertson’s interest in simplifying complex structures and capturing a sense of sheer volume and awe of nature, allows the audience to reflect on the raw power, beauty, mystery and fragility of nature.
Exhibition opens: Wednesday 14 August 2019
