In Big Sky Country, Lori Pensini chronicles her childhood wanderings through the bushlands where she grew up. This series pays homage to the matriarchal women of her past and present. Birds represent the role of women in nurturing family, while the flora communicates the virtues and characteristics of the sitters depicted in her works. Lori’s complex symbolism has evolved into the artist’s unique visual language, that she has coined Floriography (please see language details overleaf). The three grand scale panoramic landscapes draw inspiration from the artist’s memories of her grandparents’ storytelling as they slept under the “star stippled blanket of the milky way” and other evocative tales.
Opening: 4th June, 12 – 4pm
