Lucy Culliton’s highly sought-after paintings are inspired by her country life on a property in the Monaro district of NSW. Bibbenluke Spring celebrates the joyful optimism of her garden in springtime. In her signature impasto style, this exhibition focuses mainly on exuberant floral still-lifes with the addition of two beautiful large garden-scapes.
Each painting brings with it its own mood with vibrant bursts of colourful blooms overflowing theatrically from antique vases to more pared back, contemplative arrangements. In 2006 Lucy was the winner of the Portia Geach memorial award and is a regular finalist in the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Exhibition opens: 6–8pm Thursday 5 March 2020
