Mathieu Briand develops an immersive story over three levels of MARS Gallery, using animatronic android sculptures, called A-droyx, photography, 3D image prints, sculptures and video. When our heart sink deeply on the uncanny island explores connection between our perceived reality and imagination while questioning our relationship with technology and nature, modernity and roots.
Briand is a Melbourne-based artist born in Marseille, France. He has participated in international group and solo exhibitions in major museums such as Centre Pompidou, Paris, Tate Modern, London, Jumex Foundation, Mexico City, Walker Art Centre, Minneapolis, Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah, ICC, Tokyo, Moca, Taipei, SITE Santa Fe, Santa Fe, and MACBA, Barcelona.
Briand has also held large-scale solo exhibitions at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon, La Maison Rouge, Paris and MONA, Tasmania.
