Megan McKenzie: Iterations

“I am interested in drawing parallels between the material nature of clay, abstract form, and the fundamental experience of being human. Beginning with a single mould, this body of work uses iteration as a conceptual framework for exploring difference within repetition, employing a spectrum of volume and flatness, multiplicity and singularity to address the fluidity and instability of perception.

“Using my own glaze palette made from raw materials, I have created a body of tones and textures that influence the reading of the piece, allowing colour, light, space and form to speak subconsciously to the viewer, allowing for individual interpretation that draws on visceral and intuitive readings. I hope this body of work considers how we navigate ambiguity, construct personal narratives, and continually remake our understanding of ourselves and the world.”
