Voice Over 2020 contemplates the interdependency of all things and the responsibility that comes with it. The work builds rhythmic relationships between natural phenomena through the organisation of sound, objects, light, air and magnetic fields. This generative composition is open to chance, fluctuations in the material, and unexpected environmental interventions.
Initially training as a sound engineer, Michael G F Prior’s art practice connects installation, performance, publishing and education. He has presented work at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, MONA FOMA, the Heide Museum of Modern Art and the Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. He has devised teaching programs for remote schools through Creative Victoria initiatives, and is currently a sessional lecturer in RMIT’s School of Art. He continues to work as a sound designer, most recently with the National Gallery of Victoria and the Yijala Yala project in Roebourne, WA.
Exhibition opens: 6–8pm Wednesday 26 February 2020
