Michele Theunissen’s latest body of work is a study in emergence — paintings that move beyond intention toward the unknown and unseen. Each work grows from a stable organic structure, built through a minutiae of marks that gather into rhythm. As layers of colour accumulate, the structure is dismantled, creating tension and dissonance. Through deletion and struggle, resolution is found where the marks open into an expansive field of harmony. Feeling and sensation arise from colour, gesture and material alone.
