Alcaston Gallery presents Nowee Sisters: Life and the Desert, showcasing three exceptional Kukatja artists and sisters from Balgo Hills, Western Australia: Frances Nowee, Theresa Nowee (1971-2017), and Geraldine Nowee.

The Nowee Sisters are the daughters of esteemed artist and senior, highly respected lawman Brandy Tjungurrayi (1930-2012) and artist Nowee Nangala (c.1930-c.1998). The sisters paint the designs and cultural knowledge of their parents’ Country; their father’s Country, Nyilla around Puntujalpa (Jupiter Well) in the Great Sandy and Gibson Desert Region of Western Australia, and their mother’s Country, Minyurrpa, situated between Puntujalpa (Jupiter Well) and the Canning Stock Route.
