Following the presentation of her major work Seven Sisters Tjukurpa in Ngura Pulka – Epic Country at the National Gallery of Australia, Nyunmiti Burton presents a new body of paintings centred on Kungkarangkalpa, the Seven Sisters Tjukurpa. Across expansive, densely worked compositions, Burton brings together ancestral narrative, Country and contemporary experience, foregrounding women’s leadership, protection and the transmission of cultural knowledge. Through rhythmic line, repeated forms and saturated colour, the works carry the story forward with a commanding sense of movement and authority.
