Rebecca Baumann, Automatic Drawing, 2019. Flip dot display, arduino, aluminium, edition of 3 plus AP. Courtesy: the artist and Starkwhite Gallery, Auckland.
Rebecca Baumann continues her unconstrained exploration of time and movement across varying forms in New Work. The exhibition includes a new series of automatic drawings using flip-dot display. An electro-magnetic signage originally created for the stock market, Baumann strips this early technology of its function and reimagines it as a choreography. In action the works feels like a code is being transmitted, communicating with colour, sound, and movement in a language we can’t quite understand.
Exhibition opens: 5:30–7:30pm Tuesday 26 November 2019
