Created in continuation from his recent institutional solo with the Lyon Housemuseum, Bradley’s latest body of work, “SYMBOLS”, represents his most ambitious solo to date, informed by his ongoing exploration of ‘image-making’ using a hybrid of digital and painting technologies. Ry David Bradley’s practice is driven by a longstanding investigation into what painting can mean in the 21st century. He continues to advance provocations around the nature of image-making, working at the intersection of digital and traditional methods. Bradley combines pixels with oil paint and the gestural marks of the artist’s hand, constructing works that deliberately blur and destabilise the boundaries between the two. In these hybrids, history and speculation refuse to collapse into one another, existing instead in a space of productive tension.
