LON Gallery presents a solo exhibition of new works by Ryan Hancock.
Beserk Idyll is a series of maiolica painted pots that depict reimagined narratives. These narratives are of chaotic worlds filled with painted graphic figures from history, popular culture, and internet humour. Upon each vessel, new canons and timelines are created that are grounded in eternity. Stories from the past become synthesised within contemporary culture, creating a time loop of sorts. The medium itself is timeless, a message to the future that is baked in flames.
The images endlessly repeat in a loop, the only limit is the top and bottom of each pot. Like a parallax, upon each vessel, space becomes distorted. The edge of the pot is constantly changing based on one’s position. With this, one perceived reality makes way for another.
