Chalk Horse Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Sam Doctor.
Traumascapes follows the trajectory of Doctors previous series You must go on. I can’t go on. I’ll go on that looked at radioactivity within the landscape of Fukushima. Here, Doctor is looking at similar tensions between humankind and the environment, but unlike his previous bodies of work that have taken us to various sites around the world, this exhibition is closer to home; it examines Australia’s involvement with the nuclear industry.
Doctor uses drones and mapping software to create a single-channel video detailing the former uranium site Mary Kathleen in Mt Isa. The exhibition is also comprised of a series of photographs that capture the strangeness of this place.
The gallery will be open by appointment. Please contact the gallery to arrange a suitable viewing time. Walkthrough videography will be provided for those who cannot make it in to see Traumascapes.
The exhibition can also be viewed on the gallery website. View exhibition here.
