“In Simon’s new exhibition, A Moment in Time, we are reminded that flowers don’t have to explain their beauty or presence, or their purpose and value. We are reminded that the beauty of flowers is in fact solitary, hidden and very much existing despite human life and activity…Simon’s peonies direct the viewers’ attention on everything that human life can never be- the flower is a free beauty of nature. He reminds us of the intricate, elegant, and androgynous psychological, spiritual and emotional capacity of flowers. And how flowers represent the method of the continuing of life of plants-that there is romance in life. From dewy, hopeful bud to withering, translucent petals. His peonies leap off the flat surface and into the peaceful, private world of our sensory pleasures and are poetic reflections on the subject of life and death.” A Moment In Time by Emma Finneran
